I forgot how dope City Winery is. Currently occupying the space that was once the legendary Club Love, it brings upon nostalgic vibes of when DC nightlife was in its prime…or at least I was in my prime. Anyways, some decent shows coming up this fall. I had some credits from shows that got cancelled during Covid so I copped a couple of tix.
Below are some mention worthy shows you might want to add to your calendar. Dave Hollister - October 9th Backyard Band - October 10th Kenny Lattimore - October 23rd Bilal - October 25th & 26th Vivian Green - October 29th Rare Essence - November 24th Chante Moore - November 29th Black Alley - December 10th You can find additional info and tix here: https://www.citywinery.com/washingtondc/Online/default.asp?sToken=1%2Cdab93d97%2C61534b1d%2C2F6ED568-9D43-41E2-BB28-7583C9F38478%2CNI8TnbuiT9hYcFeFmqe1aNbDts4%3D&BOset::WScontent::SearchResultsInfo::current_page=6&doWork::WScontent::getPage=&BOparam::WScontent::getPage::article_id=A7E9CA70-DD52-476F-B2EC-301462AD7F49 I forgot to post this a few weeks ago and my friends were like, “where’s the link sis?”…my bad y’all. Definitely had a blast at Governors Ball this past Saturday. The 3 day music festival in NYC was really well executed. I had tickets for the Saturday show. I wish I had purchased a weekend pass to see the entire festival. Because I drove up, I parked on-site. Parking was $50 and had to be purchased in advance but it wasn’t crazy hectic. Thank God! The entry process was smooth. I got there fairly early so we didn’t stand in line. They required an ID and Covid Vaccine check. There were plenty of food and drink vendors so the lines weren’t ridiculously long. They mailed out wristbands and you could attach your card to the band to pay at the vendors. The event was completely cashless which probably helped move the lines along. The liquor sponsors were Aperol, Bacardi and Patron. They all had really cute installations with seating and games so you could enjoy your cocktail. The event installations were also dope.
Saturday’s headliners we’re J Balvin and A$AP Rocky. I also wanted to see Cordae and Megan the Stallion. There were 4 stages, with different artist performing on each. Most of the artist started on time which I appreciate. Megan’s set was really good but lacked special effects. J Balvin however pulled out all of the stops…smoke, fire, lights. I unfortunately missed A$AP’s performance. It started to get late and I had to drive back to DC. All in all, I enjoyed every aspect of the festival. Felt so good to be at a festival again. Old Town Alexandria Cocktail Week is September 10th-19th. Participating restaurants will be hosting events as well as featuring specialty cocktails. Events do require tickets. Art all Night is planned for September 24th-25th. With art activations all over the city, art galleries and exhibits are open late. They also showed documentaries and hosted other events. Most events are free. I attended this event a few years ago and had a good time! Shaw, the Parks, Tenleytown and Uptown are some of the neighborhoods I would suggest hitting. Be sure to check the event calendars for each night to plan out your night. Adams Morgan Day Festival is taking place Sunday Sept 12th from 12pm-7pm. A full day of events are plan to celebrate the historic neighborhood of Adams Morgan. Known for its bars and restaurants, Adams Morgan is a popular part of the city. Not ready to join in on the fun in person? No worries, a lot of events will be hosted virtually as well. I’m down for this Drag Queen Storytime. Sounds like fun.
